The right to education and protection against child labour.

Topic 1 A:

Children do not attend school because their families are poor and need money. So, they prevent their kids from going to school in order to work and help them to get money. In fact, Article 28 says that education is the right to free primary education, the availability of vocational education and the need for measures to reduce the drop-out rates.

Education fosters the development of the child's personality and talents, preparation for a responsible adult life, respect of human rights as well as the cultural and national values of the child’s country and that of others. We feel that we have to go to school because that’s our right. Children can work and earn money on holidays or in their free time, but « No Labour » during the time when they should be studying at school. Yes, that’s right. Every child has the right to Education. There are approximately 15 % of children in Morocco who don’t go to school. But, in our city « Assa » all children go to school except for the following categories:

1)   Nomadic children: Because they move from one place to another frequently

2)   Poor children: Their families are very poor so that they can’t afford money to buy books.

3)   Early married girls : In some villages, people oblige their girls to marry in an early age.

4)   Street or homeless children : They don’t go to school because they don’t have someone to take care of them and be responsible about all what they need.

For sure, kids will choose the right to Education if they are given the chance to choose between « the right to education » or « labour » because they are aware of the importance of school.

Topic 1 B:

Actually, there is no company in « Assa »;  our town but we can say it has a lot of associations for example "Al wahda and Tanawoa Association" (Unity and Change Association). It is the best association because it helps the poor families for anything they want such as clothes , food and their medical health care. This association helps the kids to prepare somethin to draw,  sing,

and to look for themselves, but it does not use the children for anything bad or dangerous. In fact, this association is very old in our town and everyone goes to ask for it as it provides a lot of information about people’s needs and problems ; that’s why it is important in our city.

Yes, associations take many measures to fight against child labour in their productions. They punish those who employ children in their associations or markets. Our associations has  not difficulties in serving children’s rights in our city because people are aware of the importance of their children’s rights and it’s the only association which serve such rights.

The other questions which we would like to ask are :

1)   Do you have the same association or company in your city?

2)   How can you serve it?

3)   What are the activites that your association has?

4)   What does it do to help the poor people in their life?

Topic 2 A:

1) Neha Gupta is the winner of this award by Kids Rights in 2014.

2) All of the winners of this award have a common character : they try to defend the rights of children . they are able to make a difference by their ambition, their hard working and their self-confidence, because all  of them lived a hard childhood in different faces.

3) The right which particularly draws  my attention is this : « If children are given an opportunity, they for sure can contribute in making this world a better place ». and that because I think that we have to give as possible our children all the opportunities to make their own career, to find themeselves , to create their personnalities and also to inspire the others to be like them. This right can be achieved by listening to our children , by knowing their gifts and talents , and also by helping them to do what they believe in.

Topic 2 B:

AIDA LAKHRIF is our guest in the interview. He was born on 1989-01-09 in Assa. His childhood was normal like anybody else born in a closed society. His mother was present more than his father because he was a soldier. They lived with a low salary. AIDA used to play with toys made with garbage. He enters to the primary school on 1994, the middle school on 2003, the high school on 2006 in Oukba Ibnu Nafiaa High School and the University on 2009. He finishes on 2011 and he was specialized in philosophy. His personality was all the time silent and serious. The reason that led him to be interested in Human Rights is to change the hard reality, and the nature of his life (the difficulty of his environment especially in the Sahara). AIDA has a project which is to fix the Educational problems in Morocco in general and in Assa (our town) in particular because education is the basic to build a society without problems. This person describes his life with one expression which is "A lot of distress; a little bit of pain and happiness of success”.
